Experience Coonawarra history with a special tasting of this
limited release wine. Named after one of the forefathers of the Coonawarra,
this wine is a collaboration between Wilson’s descendants – the Redman and
Balnaves’ families – and released in 2016 to commemorate 200 years since his
birth.

The 2016 William Wilson is made from Redman Shiraz (55%) and
Balnaves Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) both from old vines. The wine was matured for
18 months in French oak prior to bottling in 2018. Only 250 dozen made.

“The bouquet is very complex and evokes black fruits, a
basket of fragrant dried herbs, including a hint of regional mint, and the wine
is very intense, deep and long on the palate. The tannins are supple and smooth
but not too cuddly: it has a well measured grip. Terrific fleshy extract,
density and richness, with great structure and persistence. An outstanding,
striking wine which is set to be a flag-bearer for the Coonawarra region.”
